Overview
This workshop, delivered over three part-day sessions, is designed to develop understanding of the regulatory approach to efficacy assessment under the GB Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR).
The course focuses on helping attendees improve the quality of efficacy data packages by demonstrating how dossiers are assessed by HSE as the regulator responsible for authorisations and approvals under GB BPR.
Through practical examples and expert insight, the course highlights best practice, common issues, and typical data gaps encountered during assessments.
Learning outcomes
Delegates will be provided with knowledge and practical guidance to help them:
- Understand how efficacy assessments are conducted under GB BPR
- Identify product label claims and determine the associated data requirements
- Produce efficacy data packages to meet regulatory expectations and understand the regulatory perspective
- Understand the efficacy data requirements in order to demonstrate that co-formulants are not contributing towards product efficacy
- Understand the efficacy data requirements for updated product families guidance
- Recognise and avoid common issues and data gaps in submissions

- Identifying the label claims for a product and using the guidance to find the correct data requirements for these claims
- Generating and presenting data to meet these requirements
- Options when guidance is limited or unavailable
- Product type (PT) specific considerations and requirements for:
- PT 1 – 5 (Disinfectants)
- PT 18 (Insecticides)
- PT 19 (Repellents and Attractants)
- Specific common issues for other product types
- Efficacy data requirements for product families
- Efficacy data requirements to demonstrate that a co-formulant is not an active substance in a product
- Question and answer sessions

The course is suitable for all those involved in the creation and submission of efficacy data packages for BPR applications, including test houses, applicants, consultants.
No prior experience is required. The course provides both a strong foundation for beginners and an opportunity for more experienced professionals to develop and update their knowledge in dossier preparation.
