CRD: Understanding the UK's Scheme for Official Recognition of Efficacy Testing Organisations and Facilities (ORETO)

Overview

This one-day face-to-face workshop provides an overview of the UK Official Recognition scheme for efficacy testing organisations and facilities (ORETO).

Efficacy trials submitted in support of applications for authorisation of Plant Protection Products in Great Britain (GB) and Northern Ireland (NI) must be conducted by Official or Officially Recognised Testing Organisations or facilities in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Delivered by HSE regulatory specialists, the course combines presentations with practical exercises to give attendees a clear understanding of the scheme, how it operates, and how to meet regulatory expectations. The workshop also highlights common issues identified during applications and inspections, along with practical advice on how to avoid them.

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for individuals commissioning or undertaking Official Recognition trials within the UK, particularly those new to this area of work.

No prior experience is required. The workshop provides both a strong introduction for beginners and a useful refresher for those with existing experience.
