Overview
This one-day workshop will provide a general introduction to UK Registration Procedures under the provisions of Article 34 for Plant Protection Products in accordance with Assimilated Regulation No 1107/2009 for Great Britain and Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 in Northern Ireland.
The workshop will be delivered by HSE’s Chemicals Regulation Division (CRD) Registration Specialists who will be available to answer your questions throughout the event.
Learning outcomes and what the course will cover
Delegates will be provided with knowledge and practical guidance to help them:
- Understand the purpose and scope of Article 34 and when it can be applied under the GB and NI plant protection product regulatory regimes.
- Prepare and complete an Article 34 application, with an understanding of why specific information is required and how applications progress through CRD.
- Recognise the implications of data protection, including what options are available where data are protected.
- Explain what is meant by comparability and how it is assessed across the specialist scientific areas of chemistry, toxicology, efficacy and ecotoxicology.
- Identify common issues and pitfalls in Article 34 applications, including minor vs major formulation changes and chemical equivalence.
- Understand potential assessment outcomes, including Requests for Additional Information (RAIs), and how to respond effectively.
- Appreciate how applications are affected when the reference product is in the frozen period.
