CRD: Efficacy Requirements and Assessment under Plant Protection Product Regimes in GB and NI

Overview

This workshop will be delivered over three morning sessions and will provide an overview of the efficacy data requirements for pesticide plant protection products as specified by the regulations in force in Great Britain (GB) and Northern Ireland (NI).

Particular emphasis will be placed on generating data packages to support both GB and NI authorisations, and on the assessment and presentation of data within a draft Registration Report (dRR).

The training will be delivered by HSE/CRD regulatory specialists and will help attendees improve the quality of their submissions, understand regulatory expectations, and gain insight into how efficacy data are reviewed and assessed by the regulator.

Learning outcomes

Delegates will be provided with information and practical guidance to help them:

• Understand the efficacy data requirements for plant protection products under GB and NI regulatory frameworks.
• Apply relevant European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EPPO) standards, GB and NI specific guidelines, and Official Recognition principles when generating and supporting efficacy data packages.
• Identify efficacy requirements and assessment considerations for different product types, including insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, biopesticides and plant growth regulators.
• Present efficacy data effectively within draft Registration Reports (dRRs) and Biological Assessment Dossiers (BADs).
• Evaluate efficacy, resistance, crop safety and adverse-effect data in line with CRD assessment principles.
• Understand GB and NI labelling requirements and the role of efficacy data in supporting product authorisations and renewals.

• Plant protection product data requirements, and key aspects for each product type (insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, biopesticides and plant growth regulators).
• Principles of data assessment and presentation in dRRs, and the underlying Biological Assessment Dossier (BAD).
• Effective use of the dRR in summarising data and supporting product authorisations.
• GB and NI labelling requirements.
